Creating books isn’t just work for me—it’s my passion, my dedication. I focus on the details others might overlook—the feel of textured paper, the exact curve of a serif, the perfect shade that brings a design to life. It’s storytelling as an art, crafted for industries where perfection matters most.
I’ve worked with leading institutions and art publishers, designing books and visual identities that balance precision with poetry. Every page is built with care and a sense of time. Because in the end, good design isn’t a decoration. It’s a structure that holds meaning.
Some books say more by what they leave blank.
Case Study 1
The Museum Masterpiece
For six years, I found myself weaving designs for the Kunstmuseum and Kunsthalle Appenzell, exhibition catalogues, signage, and little things that somehow captured the soul of the displays. How can you capture the essence of art in print? Designing each project felt like a quiet conversation with the artwork itself—a dance, maybe. The goal? To make visitors see more, to let the art breathe a little louder.
Case Study 2
A Swiss Grand Hotel. Over a century of heritage. Fifth generation and still standing tall. Can you imagine the stories hidden in those walls? 111 years of guests, moments, and timeless charm. I wanted to capture that—bottle it up somehow. So, I did. With photography from Stefan Pielow that made you step right into the kitchen, the ballroom, the history. Timeless typography and an overall design that doesn’t try too hard. The outcome? Three books. Three languages. A small tribute to their legend.
Case Study 3
Working with Steidl—can you imagine? For an art book enthusiast like me, it was nothing short of a dream come true. My role? Designing books for renowned artists like Jim Dine. No pressure, right? What did I learn here? Books that felt timeless but not stuck, modern but not loud. Each one felt like a tiny masterpiece, perfectly tuned to Steidl’s relentless obsession with craft. It was magic. The kind that makes your heart race a little. Maybe a little terrifying, too. But mostly magic.
Another freelance project at Steidls was finalizing Ottobock's "Futuring Human Empowerment." I knew it was going to be something out of the ordinary. Ottobock isn’t just a company—they’re pioneers in prosthetics, innovating at the intersection of human ability and technology. This all comes together in this remarkable book, which serves as a follow-up to the first installment, "Futuring." Like all good projects, it pushed me to think beyond what “design” should be. Honestly, when the final presentation came together, it felt like seeing a small glimpse of tomorrow.
What Do my Clients Say?
"Sabine collaborated with us as graphic designer for several exhibitions and related publications/catalogues we curated over the last five years. Alle of those exhibitions have an architectural or urban design content and context, some related to our professional research and self-initiated, some commissioned by the Berlin Senate for Urban development. Our interest lies in the art of visualising technically complex information or "dry" statistic data in simple diagrams and pictograms. Theory, abstract complexity need more and more the support of visual and graphical keys to enter those layers.
I enjoy very much our congenial collaboration with Sabine who adds elegance and effortless lightness to the subject matter."

— Barbara Hoidn, partner at Hoidn Wang Partner, Berlin
"During my time at the Kunstmuseum / Kunsthalle Appenzell and in cooperation with the Fondazione Arp Locarno, I worked with Sabine for almost 14 years, repeatedly designing and realizing a wide variety of print products, from accidentals to complex books. Our collaboration was perfect because Sabine Hahn thought through both the design details and, more importantly, the contexts, and she brought my occasionally very vague ideas into reality. Apart from that, she is also simply a pleasure to talk to and work with."
— Roland Scotti, curator Kunstmuseum / Kunsthalle Appenzell, Switzerland
"The book designed by Sabine Hahn commissioned by scheidegger and spiess publishing company is great significance to me. The book cover has a unique color matching, the overall design is generous and neat, and the layout of the board is simple but precise. It is a great honor to have the opportunity to introduce some aspects of Taiwanese contemporary art to the world. I hope Everyone should know that Taiwan is a wonderful island of freedom, diversity and innovation."
— Yao jui-chung, artist, Taiwan
"My debut novel was in the best pair of hands with Sabine. She made sure she deeply understood the story and found an outstanding way of expressing the human drama that hides behind a daily headline. Despite being with a small indie publisher, the book became a long seller, and I think Sabine's phantastic cover contributed to that. "
